Nothing is more exciting that bringing home a new friend! Developing trust and creating a bond takes time and effort, but it is very rewarding! If you haven’t visited your local shelters recently, there are many wonderful dogs who need homes! Generally, your knowledge of the dog’s past is pretty limited, and while they can’t tell you about things that you may potentially find undesirable in their behaviors most dogs in rescue are pretty great dogs. One thing that is always true about dogs… they never lie. If you feel that adopting a dog from a shelter or rescue organization is right for you, or even becoming a much needed Foster Family who transitions a dog into a new home, don’t think you’re going it alone! If you run into a problem or a behavior that needs to be addressed, don’t give up, get help! We will analyze the situation, begin behavior modification therapy and teach you trust building exercises to create a bond between you that will last forever.

“A ‘second hand dog’ has first rate love in his heart!” says Gayle Ballinger, of Pawsitive Steps. “Nothing breaks my heart more than to see a rescued animal be returned to a shelter because the new family did not seek the help they needed to work out a behavior problem.” |
